hi all,i have an 8 G slim Ipod, and an acer aspire 5332 laptop, they worked together perfectly, until recently, when i plug it in using the usb, the ipod says to connect to power, and or it changes from the apple logo to letting me move around on the ipod for a second or two(the battery bar is empty at this stage), the laptop says it doesn't recognize the device an dthat it has malfunctioned. it worked perfectly on an AC charger in my local HMV, iv tried to reset the ipod holding different configurations of the the menu, play/pause and middle buttons, iv un/reinstalled itunes, restarting before i try to reconnect it. but none of these have worked, iv googled and tried a few solutions but to no avail can anyone help?

I have had similar issues with my own ipod a few times.. Does iTunes acknowledge that the ipod has actually been plugged in, and do you hear the "usb noise" when it's plugged in?

I normally just restore the ipod software (done through iTunes) and then resync..

It could be a lack of power to the USB ports on the Laptop.

Test other USB devices, and try all of the ports on the laptop.

Have you tried to use it on another computer, could be worth doing a restore on the ipod provided you have your data backed up.

Disconnect any other USB devices, restart the computer and connect it when it has powered back on.

It might also be a driver issue, try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes completely.
