First Smart Phone - Samsung Galaxy Ace?

    Hi All,

I'm looking into getting my first smartphone as I've had my same trusty nokia for 5 years now.

I'm looking at Meteor €30 per month contract on which I can get the Samsung Galaxy Ace for €79. Which is pretty much as far as my budget will stretch at the moment.

I'm not hugely technical so would just be looking to use it for facebook, basic internet, texting & a few phone calls but I am more of a texter. I know the memory isn't great but I have an 80GB iPod so won't be storing much music on it.

Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with this phone? The HTC Wildfire S could be another contender but the Samsung looks a lot better.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Yup, go for the Ace, its a very good phone, good size screen. The wildfire isn't bad but I prefer the size of the ace - especially for browsing.

I'm not a fan of samsungs UI (touchwiz) though so I'd nearly always recommend that your first visit to the market should be to get launcher pro

Hi, any views on the Samsung Wave versus the Samsung Galaxe Ace mentioned here?

The Wave is over a year older than the Ace, it's also not android, however it has some cool features that the Ace doesnt have. I've looked it up and it has better video support, a better screen (amoled) and captures 720p video.

I'm really torn between the two, can anyone give any good/bad points about either that aren't given with the official specifications, y'know like are there technical faults, poor battery life etc, so that I can hopefully make a decision on which one to go for!

    Cheers.
