    Hey

Just started home-brewing and about to start my second batch

    I have this :http://www.mybeerandwine.ie/product_info.php?cPath=40_43&products_id=79

    and this:http://www.mybeerandwine.ie/product_info.php?cPath=42_65&products_id=204

Is that all I need or do I need more brewing sugar?

That'll do. I brewed the same for my second and it came out just shy of 4.7% ABV.

How would you up the alcohol content?

More sugar gives you more alcohol, but there's an upper limit for the yeast (that's usually quite high, 10%+) and you can make your beer taste a little odd. You could add a kilo of sugar and you'd probably come out about 5.5% or a little higher.

don't make it stronger. Keep to the recipe and you'll get a great beer. If you want to get the effect of more alcohol just drink more

Why not make it stronger? What's the downside?

Table sugar can make beer thin and unpleasantly cidery. Too much malt can make it overly sweet and heavy.

I made the same brew about a month ago and it is really starting to get tasty now. Since I'm only starting out I have been tasting all my brews every week since bottling to see how the taste improves over time.

The main improvement I would like to make is to give it a bit more body or make it a bit cloudier if that makes sense? I found what BeerNut said to be interesting in this regard, i.e. it would be nice for it to be a bit heavier. Would adding something like this be a compromise perhaps?

    That should do it, yes.
