This investment company withdrew their legal action against the government and Noonan has agreed to pay "a sum of money" towards their legal costs. This makes us look like a real soft touch and why is the amount of the sum not disclosed?

Senior Counsel for the firm John Rogers said the
Minister for Finance had agreed to pay Abadi
and company a sum of money in respect of its
    legal costs.

    They mustn't have Hepatitis C

Good question though why is the cost not published, why did he agree to pay some of it?

He was trying to make one of the two jump and this was his carrot.

The other party will likely lose the case and get no legal fees now as if it goes to court with one of the two having stepped down then the court is more likely to favor the state in the outcome of any case.

They probably feared they might have some kind of case if they two went to court but by getting one to step down, it makes the other business need to reconsider their position given they are going it alone now.
