Fans put their questions to Jens Voight here

    Some I liked.....

If you could ride with any rider from any era, who would it be?
Jens Voigt: “I guess I’d pick Sean Kelly. Or, if I can choose two riders, I would also invite my father in law. He did the Tour de France twice, in the times of Rik Van Steenbergen and Jacques Anquetil. Could be nice…”

You can take over one skill from any other rider, present or past. What and who's skill would that be?
JV: “That’s easy: the downhill skills of Thor Hushovd. He’s amazing going downhill. But I can still beat him in the climbs.”

What is "Shut up legs" in German?
JV: “That would be something like ‘Haltet die Klappe, Beine!’ And I would add: ‘Und macht wass ich euch sage.’ That means: ‘Do as I tell you!’”

    My personal favourite.
how do you feel about a grey jersey (best rider over 35)? would you like to see an official grey jersey in the big 3 races?

JV: “It would be a nice idea, because if it’s an achievement for a rider under 25 year to get a white jersey, than it’s only fair to me that the best rider over 35 gets a jersey too.

JV: “I am a mega-softy with my children! They don’t listen to me at all. In the hierarchy of the family, I’m just above the dog. But I like it that way. You know, my job is hard. All day long I walk around with a sword, shield and armour, ready to fight whatever comes across. That’s professional cycling. When you’re home, you want to drop it all and open up to your family. I don’t like fighting at home."

    haha! Jens is a legend.

    for me

What goes through your head when you are out front doing tempo for hours at a time?
JV: “It depends on the mood. Sometimes you think: why me? And on a good day, you think: Yeah, I’m going to make everybody behind me suffer like hell!”

    ‘Haltet die Klappe, ’
If you start shouting that out around Dublin you'll probably be pointed towards the nearest STD clinic:D
