You are right to say that there are many beautiful places in SA. I could forward you the name and contact number of a marriage officer who does alot of foreign marriages in SA. He did our wedding in Cape Town. Great guy and great service:)

Hi, I'm a South African living in Ireland and am just back from a school friends wedding in SA where I was bridesmaid. What area are you thinking about getting married in? I'm from Cape Town so can only really offer advice on getting married there but you might have some general queries. In my biased opinion it would be the best place to get married - beautiful scenery, safer than some other parts, great beaches and loads to do in the vicinity.

The wedding I was at was on a wine estate - it's very popular in SA to get married in a vineyard as they are normally in very picturesque settings. There were approximately 100 people at the wedding and the cost was R60 000 (about €6000) - the bride and groom supplied their own wine and beer and the bride, who has done a bit of wedding planning, did most of the decorating, flowers and so on herself so that is quite a good price but you should still be able to get a bargain. Food/drink is pretty cheap - and good! - in South Africa as a rule so you will get good value for money.

If you are looking at the Cape Town area I have some friends who are wedding photographers and wedding DJs, you can PM me if you'd like their details.

For a smaller wedding you could also have the reception in a restaurant, friends got married in this place http://www.suikerbossie.co.za/home.php?page=14, which is in a really beautiful location just outside Cape Town city, and there are plenty of other places that could cater for 30 people or more.

Hope that is of some help.
