Nikon D90

I was given a present of a Nikon D90 - obviously all my many hints worked. I didn't get a memory card with it though (duh) so my quick question is will any SDHC card do or do I need to get a proper branded name one. The book specifies these are approved for the D90 - SanDisk, Toshiba, Panasonic or Lexar but I won't get to shops before Saturday and thats way too long for me to wait to start playing with my new toy. any one

With a camera like the D90 I'd go for one of the top brands like Lexar or Sandisk, and make sure it's a calss 8 or higher, the lower class ones can take a little bit longer to tranfer the image from the camera when you take it. Its barely noticeable but if youre in a fast paced shoot and need to take pictures rapidly the higher speed cards are the best. Best of luck with the camera mate, my dad has one and if i had the money i'd buy one myself, my sony alpha a100 will do me till i have the cash though.... happy snapping!!!

Ive used Sandisk and transcend in mine and never had any problems.
Id say you should be ok with anyone to get you going. The higher class ones are quicker for reading and writing so I would go for one of them when your buying.

I use Sandisk and Ultima in my D90 and I've had no problems at all.

Enjoy the D90, it's a fabulous piece of kit!

if you're not rattling off shots like a machine gun, the write speed won't be a big issue - but stick to the better known brands, they're generally more reliable.
