Every years arround this time the match starts and it is rather frustrating !
I stalk on Coillte land so need my insurance in order to get the Coillte permit. NARGC tells me that the only way to get the insurance is to go through my Gun club. The Gun club tells me "well you know , oh let me think , may be you could ....not sure now". Coillte does no want to hear anything.
Just wondering how you do it ?
Last year it such a hassle to get the insurance / permit from Coillte , surely there must be an easier way.

Join the countryside alliance for 56 euro or the Irish deer society for 80 euro (including NARGC insurance), their insurance covers you, and Coillte accept them.

Are you in the gun club?? If you are your covered. I'm in a gun club, I stalk but on private land, and read the policy and from my reading of it I'm covered.

The problem here is when your insurance runs from/until. Some clubs run from say September through 12 months and thats no good if you can't get your insurance card until after the deer hunting season starts to show Coillte.

I took out personal insurance with Country Side last year in June to cover me for the stalking season but its an extra €60 that you don't need to pay out.

If you can get a cover letter from the insurance people that cover you in your gun club that will state that you will have cover from now until the end of the stalking season that may do coilllte in most cases.

Don't know about other clubs but our club membership is from august to august so that takes in deer season. I thought this would be the norm with most clubs to take in the beginning of duck season??

Just looked at my IFA card as got with the Midlands and it expires 31/08/2011. So that means it will start on 01/09/2011 ie. 1st Semtember.

Why did you ask instead of just looking at your card????

Because i am in work looking after a machine until 7am......
And as I do not have my wallet on me I can't check until morning.

Be that as it may, it covers you for stalking for Coillte.

The NARGC covers me from I sept till 31 August and i get it through the Gun Club . I could take anothe rinsurance bt i would still have to pay the one with the Gun Club.
As we say why make it easy when it can be complicated !
Maybe one day we will be able to get the insurance on-line like everythign else.

Countryside Alliance Ireland have insurance through the Wild Deer Association of Ireland and it's only €45!

I think that's the cheapest cover you can get? Also the cover runs from June to June.

I paid by credit card over the phone last year and had my letter of cover by email within minutes. Not sure if you have to be a member of the Wild Deer Assoc as I was a member already but if you have too it's only €20 a year and they do loads of stuff
