Rapist stalking Tallaght area...

I was going to post this up last night when it was circulating on Twitter and Facebook but I didn't want to do so until I had a firm source:

Please advise any women you know around the Tallaght and wider area's to be extremely cautious until this animal is caught...

Only topic being talked about round here. Certainly a terrifying time to be a woman walking around the streets of Tallaght. One attacked in the Kingswood estate and another at Bohernabreena cemetary.

Hopefully the monster behind it will be caught before too long.

Why have the cops not issued an official warning? I assume there are plenty of people who still don't know and could unknowingly walk into danger..

Hope the mods are ok with this but I've also posted a thread in tLL on this... Forewarned is forearmed as they say, not trying to cause panic but this seems to be a lunatic behind these attacks, not that any type of assault on a person of any type is acceptable.

I wish people here would stop taking the p!ss. This is very serious. A girl I knows friend was attacked today along the dodder near the old mill. It's not just rumours and scandal so be very aware and careful

True. Even Sean Crowe, the OP's "firm source" has not implied that both attacks are connected, or that there is a serial rapist stalking Tallaght. He is simply advising women to be vigilant.

This is extremely serious indeed, one woman is in hospital with a fractured skull and possible brain injuries after she was attacked while walking alone, apparently a third attack tonight in the space of a week. Please advise any women you know in the greater Tallaght area to take care and not walk alone until this monster is apprehended.

The trouble with this, is that when you have Gardai not issuing warnings based on the facts as they are aware of them, rumours start circulating in the locality, completely different versions emerge and the truth or the best set of facts available, gets lost in the middle of huge speculation.

If the Gardai will not come out and tell people what is going on, or what they think or fear could be going on, well then it's only human that people are going to discuss it without having the facts available...
