I must have been away too long....what did James Wade say about the Priory?

(just saw the other thread now, if it were a dog I'd be bitten now....:D)

Good 2nd round game in prospect between Shane O'Connor and Michael Van Gerwen. Sorry to see Mick McGowan been defeated heavily. It's only 4 and a half years ago that he put it up to Taylor in the World Championship in Purfleet. A great talent, sad to see him struggling the past few years.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,328 ✭✭✭dartbhoy

Hard luck on Shane O'Connor there against Van Gerwen. Shane started well and lead 2-0 but Van Gerwen started hitting the high scores and eventually won 4-2.

Silly carry on from Prins! There didn't seem to be any genuine reason for refusing to shake Wade's hand?

Only 1 out of the 8 Irish players that started today are through to the last 64 tomorrow. Disappointing performance by Brendan Dolan in his 4-0 1st round loss. Also a disappointing performance by Willie O'Connor,he would have been expected to beat Sam Hill in his 2nd round game. Still let's hope that Michael Mansell continues his winning run tomorrow.

Anyone know what the story was with Suljovic timing out? I thought he was at the board? What are the rules?

Once your name is called you have five minutes to get to the board or you are disqualified. Obviously he was late getting there, what a waste of a trip from Austria!

A cracking game between Terry Jenkins and Adrian Lewis tonight. Great to see Jenkins back to form with a brilliant 102 average!

Going back to last night's game between Wade and Prins and Prins not shaking Wade's hand at the end according to UK forums Wade twice refused to shake hands with Prins before the start of the game! Wade doesn't help himself at times!

What a cracking line up of games on today's main stage. Terry Jenkins could have done with an easier draw after disposing of the World champion! Outside of the main stage Thornton v Part looks like been a cracker of a game. Good to see Part back to his best after a few lean years.

What a lineup today! I'm supposed to be practicing for the All Irelands but it's gonna be tough not to watch those games.

Oh how I would love for Priestley to beat Taylor!

I'm a realist treble3, I'll be doing well to win through to the second round. It's just about experience for me this year, first time playing in these tournaments.

Great game between Anderson and Nicholson, think Anderson threw it away but you have to admire Nicholsons determination.

Some game that was between Nicholson and Taylor. Looks like Nicholson has announced himself as a big time player

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,941 ✭✭✭krustydoyle

i wonder what excuse Taylor will use for losing now.. It p**ses me off when he wont give anyone credit for beating him. Great performance from nicholson, well deserved and i hope he can kick on and win it.

    Uk Open Quarter Final Draw

    D Ovens vs M Hylton

    D Chisnell vs W Newton

    R Thornton vs M Webster

    J Wade vs P Nicholson

    Tomorrow from 1pm

    o. lot of big guns out.. who beat barney.. wes netown could take beating

Taylor looked sickened after that loss.. very cold towards Nicholson. Although there is probably history there.

Haven't seen too much of this so far but I love the QF line-up... apart from Wade none of them have a big win on Sky. Nicholson has the Players Championship and Thornton has the Masters but we should still get a fresh face winning a big tournament. Tomorrow should be very interesting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 423 ✭✭seiphil

    Newton hammered Barney.
Dont think Barney will win anything else again in the PDC.
I guess Taylor will continue to battle for titles but its the end of his dominance.

I think Chisnall has a chance tomorrow to win, although I know Newton is on form.

Wade and Nicholson could be a cracker !!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 465 ✭✭greened

I will put it on the line the winner of wade v nic will lift the trophy.
Great game tonight bewteen nic and taylor. Great comeback from taylor from 6-2 down to 7-3 down to 8-8. Never seen taylor so nevery in a final leg showdown. shows he is not comfortable with his game. Nic (yes i cant spell his name at his time of night) nearly blew it but Taylor left him of the hook with a 45 followed by a 43. Shocker., I think that is the first time I have ever seen Taylor bottle it in a crunch leg. He is not on his game and has serious doubths about himself.
Nic's post match interview could prove right. A new era in darts could have started tonight and that was said before Newton destroyed Barney.

Is it me or does anyone else think that PDC tournaments are getting more competitive as each tournament passes? Later on today we have a quarter final line up with no Taylor,Barney,Lewis or Anderson, the 4 players who were the recent semi finalists in the premier league!

Of the 8 players left in this year's UK Open in reality any of them could win it out! While a lot of pundits will pick the winner of the Wade v Nicholson game to go on and lift the title I think the winner of the Thornton v Webster game could go on and lift the title. What a fairytale it would be if Denis Ovens was to lift the trophy in the twilight years of his career? Either way I reckon we're in for a cracking day of darts today.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,328 ✭✭✭dartbhoy

    Quarter finals under way and here are the results so far;

Denis Ovens 10 Mark Hylton 6.
Mark Webster 10 Robert Thornton 7.
Wes Newton 10 Dave Chisnall 8.

Nicholson v Wade starting shortly. I was impressed with Ovens,he almost averaged 100 in his victory.

Newton reaches his first major final with a 10-6 win over Ovens. Should be an interesting final but I fancy Wade to win now.
