I'd go for the dell (in fact, I did. I got an XPS 17 (this is waht your specs are on I'm gussing?) myself a few weeks ago).

Is that 899 list price? Make sure you use a 10% discount code if you're buying from Dell.

After the 10% discount, mine was 950 for you to compare:

    i7 2630QM
    6GB Ram
    3GB nVidia GT555M
    500GB x1 HD

That was the standard setup on offer at the time. It was a May bank holiday deal.

It was by far the best deal I could find anywhere. I suggest you consider that the 2nd gen intel 'i' range are on average about 40% faster I believe. Based mainly on that, I'd say the Dell is a better spec than the MSI. Besides from Dell, it's hard to find 2nd Gen laptops at the moment since they're so new. Any I could find were outrageously priced.

They are both running Win7 home premium x64.

Which one would you say is best for gaming purposes? The DELL definitely has the better processor but the MSI seems to have the better GFX. As well as that im looking for value for money, and the MSI offers a 9-cell battery compared to the dells 6-cell.
And im wonering about the resolution and screen size. From the 2, which would be the best option? The dell has bigger screen but the MSI has a better resolution

For support reasons, I'd buy the Dell.
