iPod Touch battery life?

Hi everyone, I recently got an iPod Touch 8gb 4g. Ever since, it literally drains the battery! I'm lucky to get over a day out of it. For example, yesterday I charged it for the full 4 hours to 100%. Less than 24 hours later, it ran out of battery. I don't use it excessively that I would know if it should be using up so much battery! I turn the wifi off when not using it.

I am going to contact Apple but I can't find an email address for them. I went through a 'Service and Repair' process but this says to repair or return but I don't know whether to go further with it yet. I would rather email.

I wanted to find out the warranty (didn't know they are covered for 1 year) but I needed the date of purchase but I don't know it because I won it (schools competition). Will I need it if I return it to be fixed?

Does anyone have any suggestions or how to go about getting it fixed/replaced?
    Thanks in advance.

You might have an app running in the background that is draining the battery. Have you tried rebooting it? But if you are watching a lot of video or playing games, then 24 hours might be normal. Most iPhone users only get a couple of days.

If you want to contact Apple you will have to ring them. See here.

No where near a few days.I charge my phone, usually from less than 15% battery life to full before bed,8 hours later i might be at 97% then I would get about 12 hours use.
No push settings turned on,screen brightness about 1/3 to 1/2 way up,no auto brightness on.WIFI off and little or no calls.
Check my emails pretty regulary & mostly whatsapp & texts is all i use.

Well, I did say a couple not a few. Three days is probably a stretch for anyone.

Is this on an iPhone 4? 12 hours is very low if you are not a heavy user. I still get at least 1.5 days out of my 3GS. I have push turned on and fetch new email set to manual. WiFi on, location services on, 3G on, brightness set almost to the minimum. I get plenty of web browsing, texting and email out of that. I used to get 2 whole days, even on iOS 4, but the battery is starting to show its age.
