What if? (FIFA)

What if (and could it happen) the English FA, and say, the Spanish, German, Brazilian and Italian FA's decided to leave FIFA over the fairly obvious {alleged} corruption in FIFA?

What would happen? Bar not being in the world cup, and continental cups, could the teams in each association still do transfers?

No world cup, no European football to start.

Transfers would of course be out to and from FIFA registered clubs.

Referees would automatically be unregisgtered too.

    Never going to happen.

    From another forum:
For what it's worth, FIFA does loads of things. The fat old men at the top are useless assholes but lower down in the organisation, a ton of important things take place. There's 60923632 flavours of footballing legislation that needs to be made with regards to player registration, training compensation, national team recruitment, banned/allowed substances, etc. etc.

There's a lot of hardworking people at FIFA making sure all this happens, and if FIFA along with that infrastructure disappeared, football would absolutely collapse and take years to recover to any semblance of an organised game.

It's a classic case of 90%/10%. 10% of FIFAs resources are used by the bottom 90% of the employees to do a world of good. The remaining 90% are passed around among the top 10% of FIFA employees while they all shake hands and vote for eachother. The distribution is all wrong but if FIFA just disappeared it would unquestionably do more harm than good.

Edit: For instance, today at work I went over a case where a footballer had gotten injured while playing for one of the youth national teams and had filed for compensation against his club team (and their insurance company). FIFA's legislation on national team recruitment played a major role in the case and helped the player earn compensation.

Sure, we can pretend that we would all love it if every national team disappeared forever, but every player contract would be instantly invalidated as well. For some players it would mean being able to renegotiate at higher wages, but for a lot of others, especially in the lower tiers, it'd be akin to losing their job with no guarantee of finding a new one.

So the TL;DR is that if you abolish FIFA, you bankrupt all the fat league 2 footballers.

The FA's also rely on revenue from friendlies etc so in other words, it's not going to happen.

Well, those are the cash cows, so everyone else would follow them.

A breakaway association might be what football needs. Get those countries on board and it might actually work.

Why would they? A lot of countrys are really annoyed over the way England behave and the special rights they and the rest of the British nations have. Also if England were really really annoyed about corruption why wait until they had lost the world cup bid. It just stinks of double standards and mirrors what they are giving out about. Plus having witnessed what the English FA have done to their own domestic game I would not want them near the running of the international game either. Dont get me wrong I do think things are bad in FIFA. At least the changes today should have a positive effect in the future. Things need to change further in FIFA as well though.

No offence but if you are going to do a 'what if' thread at least do one that could actually happen.

The FA - Wouldn't do it without having a lot of powerful FA's by their side.
Spainish FA - No. Villar Llona, vice president, criticised the FA today for their actions.
German FA - No. Not long since they had a WC and have pro Blatter men like Beckenbauer.
Brazilian FA - No. They are about to make a mint from a WC. Why would they jeopardise that.
Italian FA - No. Nobody knows corruption like the Itai's ! :pac:

If FA's haven't the balls to vent their discontent publicly then they definitely don't have the balls to pull out of FIFA.

Look, FA's across the globe are really no different, full of guys on a gravy train, manouvering to get on UEFA & FIFA gravy trains, Platini is working in the back ground to leap from UEFA to FIFA and is using his clout to get backing of most of the UEFA delegates, John Delaney and his likes have higher aspirations than the FAI, he will be seeking to climb the ladder in UEFA, all these types of manouvers require ass licking, favours, back scratching etc, anyone who thinks the strong UEFA countries will withdraw from FIFA are delusional ,they are all seeking to get on the bigger gravy train, these are more akin to politicians than real football people, its been going on for years, that guy Havelenge (spelling ?), he nearly had to be shipped out in a box, same with Blatter.................. Hopefully when Platini gets in, he is said to be dead straight, he will bring in changes say like, you can only do 1 term of 4 years at the realm, this would stop the likes of Blatter in the future.
