i want to take a trip to somewhere nice in ireland for the bank hol wkend (only have very little money so if anyone knows of any deals, that would be great)

i'd like to go somewhere i can swim, play pitch and putt and walk around the area..

i dont know how to go about finding somewhere. has anybody been anywhere nice where its easy to get to as i cannot drive. would it be boring to stay in glendalough for the weekend? would kilkenny or kildare have nice places where i can do lots of activites?

Where are you based? It mightn't be easy to get to certain areas of the country from certain other areas by public transport.

Probably not going to be the cheapest of weekends to go somewhere because of the bank holiday, though if you try somewhere like Derry or Belfast it might be cheaper because the bank holiday weekend was the weekend just past, so it's a normal weekend. Derry's small enough to walk around, but big enough that you won't see everywhere in half an hour, and you could get a bus to the beach at Lisafannon near Buncrana if you want to go swimming. Not sure about pitch and putt though :(

Belfast's nice too, but then again I've never been there for the kind of weekend you're talking about.

I agree with what Dun said about Derry, Pitch and putt in buncrana i don't know of but nice one in Moville, Only problem with staying in Derry if you want to visit Inishowen is its not great for public transport. Saying that you could rent a bicycle for the weekend

Ah, it's not too bad if you're well prepared, and make sure to be on your way back to Derry by 6 :D There's a bus almost every hour to Buncrana. Or at least there used to be :S There are timetables here: http://www.loughswillybusco.com/ but they can be verified by calling them. They do the Moville route too. Sunday won't be as good for buses, but if you decide on Derry you can choose that as your walkabout day for Derry.

Another thing you could do is take the train to Portrush via Coleraine if the weather is nice - it's a lovely train journey along the coast there.
