Can't wait. It's been a great show. Hopefully the characters get a good send off. I kind of expect the worst for Tommy. You just can't see the guy retiring peacefully.

I got bored last season (never finished it), but might watch this season to see how it all ends.

They've spent so long rehashing the same old story lines over and over again I don't know how I've stuck with it this long. Last season was the worst yet. Will see it out until the end though.

    Anyone catch the new episode?

Just watched it there and though it was quite good

Yeah it was good. Great to see Tommy acting responsibly. I really thought he'd fallen off the wagon during that scene in the bar but it was well done.

Really enjoying this season so far,Maura Tierney's character is great.

Really enjoying this season so far,Maura Tierney's character is great.
She's been excellent - particularly her reaction in the latest episode when she finds she's in the clear.

I also like how Franco is calling Tommy, Needles, and Lou on their behaviour and screw ups. Good stuff.

The only negative bit is that the other women in the show are becoming somewhat like screeching harpies. It was funny enough in the second episode but I'd like a bit more depth here. Plus Colleen continues to be an utter bitch.

Really good this week! Honestly thought Franco was gonna die during that fire

The Gavin women are starting to get really annoying, doesn't make sense that Janet and Sheila suddenly become best friends either!

Poor auld Chief Feinberg seems to be losing his marbles aswell.

Just watched the penultimate episode & I had a feeling the whole way through that I knew what was going to happen. Last episode is next week & is titled
"Ashes", which considering the way they ended up is hardly surprising. Astonished they'd wipe them all out though. I thought Tommy would die saving Black Sean.
Great cliffhanger, I just hope the last one isn't too dark.

Oh god that was a good episode! The ending was really intense!
I don't know if they all died though. Looked like Lou took the brunt of the explosion standing in the doorway. Don't know how they'd do an episode without 62 truck but maybe they could think of something. The promo for the last episode looks like you could be right about them all dying.
Can't wait for the last episode but I love this show, I'll be sad to see it go after so many years...

Actually have very mixed feelings about it today. I 'm going to be sad it's over, but realistically it couldn't go on forever. Here's my prediction:
It was a huge explosion (even if it was dodgy CGI), if anyone is to survive it'll be Mikey & Black Sean. Lou is a gonner, right beside the door (unless it protected him, it was steel), Franko too (he was at the very top & we saw the top blow out), Garrity was on the stairs & they collapsed down. Tommy was between Black Sean & Lou. I'm guessing he'll be saved by Tommy (which means obviously he's gone too). Mikey was in front of Black Sean, between Garrity & Franko.

I'm guessing that the last episode will be Tommy's funeral ending with Sheila & Janet supporting each other, Needles & Mikey & Black Sean at the graveside. Camera will pull back to show Tommy & the crew watching.

It's too obvious that Tommy is gone, after doing the vows & promising to give up the service. He may as well have been the newest GI who pulls out a picture of his girl to show they rest of the guys who he's marrying when he gets home.

OK TV.com have a synopsis up & although there's no spoilers in it, I'm gonna spoiler this:

It appears that there's two deaths, I'm guessing Tommy & Lou:

After Seven Seasons and 92 Episodes, Rescue Me draws to a close. In the highly-anticipated series finale, after the fire, the guys struggle to pick up the pieces. The probies receive a familiar speech and stand before a new leader.

Got me at the start. Very powerful.
Little disappointed at the episode over all. Not as strong as I would have thought, but it does leave it open to a follow on in some way.

I think at the start it was the first time I was ever annoyed at Rescue Me's dream sequences. Had a tear in my eye at Lou's speech at the funeral and then BAM another one of Tommy's dreams.

Good episode especially when Mike opened the box. Nice mix of humour/drama as always!

Fitting end, I'll miss the show. Hopefully they'll release a complete box set now.

    One last time...

The opening was cinematic & I think would made a more interesting & satisfying close, but by the same token, it ended as I started & did leave an opening for a special or movie (complete with ghosts of the past)

Pretty good end to an overall top show. Yeah lots of times they went too cartoonish especially with Tommy's love life but there was enough great acting every season to keep me watching.

Anyone else think it was weird that Jimmy didn't show up in the finale?

  • There goes the best series on Tv. Gonna miss it.

Pretty happy with it. I loved the opening but really it kind of had to be a dream and if anyone else had to go, this was the right person. The ashes joke I could see coming a mile off but, at the same time, it was a good gag for the team to bond over.

The only bit I didn't care for was delivering the baby - but then the Gavin girls have long been the weak point of the show. I just wish they'd all shut up.

Amusing to have Shane MacGowan slurring his words over the final credits. G'wan Ireland (yes I know he's English and "Dirty Old Town" isn't about Dublin, but I bet the producers didn't know that...).

I thought it was a fitting end to the show. The end scene in particular was picture perfect. Would have been nice if Jimmy was in the truck too, at the end though.

The delivery scene was a tad ridiculous but they managed to wrap up the show without getting overly sentimental like most finales.

Another great show gone. Going to be hard to find something to replace it.

    Brilliant show.
There have been so many dream sequences it was fully expected though disappointing.

So many great characters - Uncle Teddy was right up there.

The scene with the midget (1.36 in below) utterly superb.
