Euromillions twice weekly!

It seems as if the "lets-put-the-game-on-twice-weekly-and-double-our-profits" concept has just crashed and burned in the Euromillions. When the game was only on Friday's the last rollovers were of the order
    15m-28m-44m-60m etc and 15m-29m-43m
This time round the jackpot has not been won three times but it has gone
    15m-27m-33m !!!
That is a stupendous drop-off in my eyes. Plus, the 15m was a guaranteed jackpot for last Tuesday, so we have no idea how little or much was actually wagered then. I run a syndicate here at work, and we had a huge debate before deciding to half our number of lines and cover both draws. It will be interesting to see what happens if its not won twice in a row again i.e. is Friday up at the 48m and Tuesday then only about 55m. This isn't what they had envisaged I'd say. I had to do a double-take as I thought it must be a typo when I saw 33m! They'll hardly reverse the decision will they?

Did your syndicate ever win anything substantial? I'm sure you check the results online in which case you will know the chances of anyone in Ireland winning the bigger prizes is negligible. The latest draw is not untypical with the highest amount being won in Ireland being €138 (apart from the €2000 in the confined draw). The ordinary Lotto could be a better gamble.

No !! I get abuse weekly, which will now be twice weekly.

We do the lotto as well - matched 5 once but in L+2 for €250!

Waiting to see what tonight goes to after the 15m-27m-33m-46m trend
It should be over €58m but might just go to €52-53m.

I did it for tonight. Can't wait to win 50 million.

It appears the prizes for even winning smaller amounts has collapsed

It used to be at least €9 for 2 and 1 star

    Now its €7

    and check out this anomaly
You get the same amount for 3 numbers as 3 numbers and a lucky star
Match All Winners Irish Winners Prize
    5 + 2 Stars 0 0 €156 million wins
    5 + 1 Stars 14 0 €241,234wins
    5 28 2 €40,206wins
    4 + 2 Stars 127 2 €4,432wins
    4 + 1 Stars 3005 39 €164wins
    4 5449 95 €90wins
    3 + 2 Stars 5484 115 €64wins
    3 + 1 Stars 125868 2416 €12wins
    2 + 2 Stars 78083 1695 €21wins
    3 225655 4584 €12wins
    1 + 2 Stars 404262 9230 €11wins
    2 + 1 Stars 1709693 34043 €7wins

Poor value-looks like they need to learn the less is more and have turned people off in their droves with the second draw and increasing the daily stars from 9 to 11

And i forgot to do it:mad:, i think it can only roll over one more time before they give it to the 5 +1 star winners.
Saw a add earlier for the irish lottery and there 3 million jackpot for Saturday:rolleyes:, yeah im rreally going to play that when the euromillions will be over 200 million baby:)

    No, not anymore

It used to be that they'd roll it 12 times and then cap it. If it wasn't 5+2, then 5+1 would win and work down

Now it's capped at €185 million until it's won and the surplus goes to the lower prizes

 Not won again tonight, but 1 Irish player matched 5 + 1 lucky star to win over 4.5 Million.

I think he has to share that 4.5 mill with 5 others. 6 people got 5 numbers + 1 of the lucky stars.

By that logic 4,463,502 are sharing €4.

    bleedin' Ballyfermah wha' !!
Its a great ploy to get people gambling because that's what a runner's up prize should be in a lottery this size!

Can someone explain to me why people get so excited about the lotterys getting huge jackpots and going to buy lots of tickets?

Surely winning say 30million and 100million wouldnt be such a big difference really, they are both crazy amounts of money that would completely change your life similiarly.

Does anyone know generally if people win more from the smaller pot games than the larger ones as the larger pot games have more entrants and hence more sharing of prizes? Or is this sharing generally more than compensated by the larger prizes?

I guess my question is basically is it wiser to buy tickets for the smaller pots than the larger?

Here you have a good site to check your results. http://euromillions.com/euromillions-results/.

You get better value if you wait for the €185m cap to kick in as then all staked money (excluding that siphoned off in profits clearly) goes into the 5+1 bag and you stand to win millions instead of 10's or 100's of thousands.
The odds are still against you but the prizes are teasingly bigger!
