Means of Spouse for JSA

Just trying to calculate the means etc. regarding JSA.
I have so far been able to assess my partners means but i dont know what im supposed to deduct them from, it says the 'maximum payment', however im not sure what that would be in my situation. could anybody tell me how to calculate this please?

it'd be myself and our child plus him.

i didnt know whether to include the 'Qualified adult' in this max payment because i dont know if he is entitled as from what i can see he earns too much or is this also based on his means rather than his earnings?

just to clarify, would his means be deducted from the personal rate plus child and adult dependent rate or just from the personal and qualified child rate? he is over the limit to be a qualified adult but is the QA included when calculating the 'maximum payment' from which his means are deducted?

(p.s. i tried to use the chart that was put up here however its 'read only' on this laptop!)

i think the over 25 rule doesnt apply to my rate since i've a child, could be wrong though.

but if hes earning over the threshold for me to be entitled to a Qualified Adult payment for him is he still included as a Qualified adult in the calculation of our maximum payment from which the means are deducted?
or is the 'maximum payment' (used in the means test) always the same regardless of our eligibility for the QA rate?

    Hi
your situation sounds similar to mine. When I had a temp job and hubbie was unemployed my weekly was E500 (take home about E463) and hubbies JSA was about E90.

    Worked out like this....
You are allowed to deduct E20 / day up to a max of 3 days (ie E60) from his earnings.
The balance is then assessed at 60 %.
    so in my example.....
    E463 - E60 = E403

    60 % of E403 = E241.80

342.60(max rate of adult, dependant + child) - 241.80 = JSA payment (in this case E100.80)

Figures may be slightly off as I am doing this from memory and there are allowances for pension and union ( I think), but it gives you a rough idea give or take E10-E20

    HTH

You add in the adult dependent rate even if your spouse is working

i understand that you add in the QA even if hes working but if hes earning over the 310 cut off point for a QA payment is this still included yeh?

also, im currently working 4hrs one day a week, i occassionally get an extra 4hr day if im lucky, if i get the occassional extra hours how does this work out if i get JSA? do i get a docket signed and send it in to SW?
will it affect the next weeks payment or the week after that?
im just wondering if its short notice extra hours what the story will be and stuff like with paperwork and the likes.

We could qualify for FIS yeh but the figures work out better for JSA than FIS afaik.
