Applying for Grant for the first time

    Hi,
I will be starting a full-time postgraduate course in Ireland in September. I am living independently and have been since this time last year. I understand that there is a 3-year rule attached to applying for grants, but am wondering if, as I never applied for a grant during my undergraduate study, does this 3 year break rule apply to me? I've rang the council and the women was not very helpful, she was very evasive and I couldn't get a straight answer from her. I really hope I'll qualify for a grant and the three year rule does not apply to me, as otherwise I will not be able to afford this course :(
