Think this came out last week... Just looking for some opinions on it here. I haven't bought a laptop in years, but am giving some consideration to this, but not for full price. It isn't worth €999 imo, but do any of you guys think it represents value at €799? I realise a lot of that price is paying for the aesthetic. Is it crazy to even consider it?

Why do you not think it is worth €999?

    Hey,

I'm also considering the Dell XPS 15z, i'll be buying the base and hopefully upgrade and my needs increase.

I'll be using it mainly for Adobe Creative Suite.

Anyone any thoughts or opinions on the machine.

I have noticed that the base model in the states is selling for $999 / 700 euro, it also has 6GB ram as opposed to 4GB ram in the UK/Irish base model.

Basically the US is getting a higher spec model at a cheaper price, annoying!

    Regards

Unfortunately FlashD this is the case with most electronics. The US is always cheaper then Ireland :(

I'm in the US now and buying this machine at the end of the week when I get paid. It has great spec and is the best looking 15" PC in the category IMO. I'm also a fan of Dell since my Inspirion 6400 is probably the greatest laptop ever made ha

I have to admit to being a Dell fanboy as well, all my systems (excluding an Alienware and 1 I built myself) have been Dell, they might be a little bit more expensive than you'd build yourself but their service is second to none imvho.

@shanefitz360 I'm jealous.:) Such a nice price in the US. Let us know your impressions. What are the main applications you will be using?

I don't understand why the states get their equipment cheaper than everyone else. As I understand, aren't all these parts made in China anyway?

I asked the DELL sales team on their chat thing, why? The DELL guy said 'market conditions'. When I asked 'What market conditions', he said 'assembly, shipping etc', so much for a straight forward answer :D

I'm currently based in Korea so looks like i'm going to get my 15z here. The base model is still the same spec as the Irish/Uk base model but factoring in the currency exchange I will save about 100euro.

Still peeved about the US price and extra 2GB ram though.

    Regards.
