    Hi,

Its my wife's birthday soon and I want to get her a couple of nights in a nice destination spa - someplace luxurious that she can relax in, get a message and do a yoga class.

I'm looking at the following 4 - just wondering if folks can recommend one over the other (I understand Monart is really nice but its a little far as we are in the west)

    - Temple Retreat and Spa
    - Carton House
    - Johnston house
    - The Heritage

    Appreciate any feedback,
    Thanks BB

Probably the best hotel for weekend and spa breaks I've stayed in is the Druids glen hotel. Absolutely stunning. Wonderful facilities, excellent relaxation and spa treatment centres etc and service 2nd to none. The restaurant is top class as well.
Just to be clear it's not the big old white houses where the clubhouse to the golf course is. It's the new hotel not far away.
We've stayed there twice and have to admit i'd give it 10/10 every time;)

why not try Aghadoe Heights in Killarney, have heard great reports back from the spa there or check Nadur Spa as well

The Carton House absolutely blew me away. It's set in amazing grounds and is a true luxurious experience. Definitly great for a pampering experience.

I've been to Johnstown House, Carton and the Temple Spa.

Carton is nice, but its a hotel. It's a very nice, luxurious hotel, but its not a spa break, its a hotel break with a spa treatment, if you get me. I don't think you're going to get a yoga class there.

Temple Spa is a retreat. Very peaceful. Yoga was how everyone started the day in a dedicated yoga room. The spa treatments were also very very impressive. It really is one for recharging the batteries, the kind of place you wouldn't even turn your phone on in.

I wouldn't recommend Johnstown house for a spa break away. In a way its like Carton, in the sense that its a hotel with a spa - but Carton would be nicer by a long shot.

It really depends what you think she'll want out of it...

I would recommend the Monart near Enniscorthy. It is only an adults only spa hotel, so you wont find yourself in among a wedding party or a load of kids.

Mrs JT and myself had a wonderful stay there. Facilities are great. Had a hot stone massage and then off to a darkened room to relax afterwards. Just loved walking around in our dressing gowns all day and only getting dressed for dinner. Food is wonderful. They left us little gifts on the bed each evening.
