Couponing

    Hey there boardsies! :)
Viewing an ad on TV for "Extreme Couponing" made me think of past times when I was still leaving in my country of origin (Italy) where coupons seems to be more common/easy to find and use both on and off line...
So I thought, why not open a thread to keep notice of all coupons retireving occasions in Ireland?
Is there anyone interested? Are there any desperate housewives round here (or househubbies for that matter)

Full list of coupon attachments here:>>>>>>> LINK

Looking around in "the real world" and the net, and also thanks to other boardises here in the Bargains section here's what I found till now:

    Online -->

www.pigbacks.com , decent on-line resource, subscribe to the food&grocery newsletter and they will e-mail you when they put up new coupons to be printed, ot go to the "coupons" section from the menu on the top of the page

http://www.loveirishfood.ie and more specifically http://www.loveirishfood.ie/coupons.aspx , there is little on at the moment but hopefully more coming

    http://www.moypark.ie/
doesn't have coupons on as per today's date but should usually have them

http://www.glenisk.com/ subscribe to the newsletter fromt he menu on the left of the page to receive coupons

https://www.cushelle.com/ offers a coupon (but I am sure there are ways to print more than one for family) for 60 cents off, they also deliver it to your door in case you are printer-less

    http://www.bigals.ie/ and more specifically
http://www.bigals.ie/Sizzlin-Summer-BBQ-Offers.56.1.aspx different range of bbq related coupons (double take if you "like" them on FB as per FB widget on the left)

    http://www.todayfm.com/Libraries/Today_FM_Documents/Persil_Voucher.sflb
, a temporary coupon for Persil Liquid, valid until December 2011

    Offline -->

In my local SuperValu (Wicklow Town) I found a Hellmann's recipes booklet (with brownies one the cover??? lol) with a 80 c off all mayonnaise range products. Booklets are free so pick up as many as u need, I am pretty sure same booklets can be found around Ireland and in different supermarkets too.

I am sure there is more around, both in "real life" and online, I will try to update this when I find out more but what about maybe make a sticky of this, Mods?

Also...anyone want to share some stories about your couponing successes or less? I am a noobie again anyway :)

thanks a million, started couponing recently and am really getting good value when I double them up with Tescos half price offers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,422 ✭✭✭Tirabaralla

Thank you all for the thanks, guys and gals!
Does anyone have any links/suggestions to add? For example I dunno if it is possible in Ireland to find coupons on newspapers or mgazines etc.

@Aruba, thank you, if you have any other suggestions for me I am listening, I am gonna try do the same and "team" the copons with sales/offers etc.

Did anyone encountered probs while trying to use a copuon on something that the supermarket had on special price already? (yes, I am shy).

we used the persil today fm coupon in tescos last week. 9 bottles even gave a coupon away to some lady buying one. it was the 54 wash for 6 euros odd.
had no problems using a lot of coupons ( pigsback ) mind you the csa was rather rude, she was finishing up and we did have a load of shopping. all in all saved 40 euros roughly.

the today fm coupon runs till dec so print as many as you

Thanks OP - great post in these lean times.

Your pigsback link is incorrect, should be www.pigsback.com

    @Tirabaralla.
no worries, just keep an eye on the dates they end. * if a store wont take them you can always complain to someone higher once it is still within the date afaik, and if you kick up good enough you never know it might be for free. :D

Also ,if you dont have a works printer you can print off loads my suggestion is to get a mono printer. we got one it was only around 50stg from Amazon and we have printed loads already and still have over 700 pages left in the toner cartridge :D

I've just created one here, feel free to think of a better name etc., only did it so we could form a small community of people who are dedicated to obtaining coupons: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Super-Shoppers/206715976032400

I was thinking that we would be able to feature all of the coupons mentioned above and hopefully we contact some brands who would be happy to supply coupons for us to post on our page? Everyone would be able to contribute and we'd then be able to get a domain sometime.

The picture will be changed soon also, I'll get a picture of some Irish coupons to use :D

Centra have Hellmannn's Mayo in various flavours (Real/Light/Chili/Garlic/Lemon) in squeezy packs at half price till June 4th - add in the voucher above and that's a steal!!

PS: if Centra have it, it's likely Supervalu will have the offer too.

Since many of these bargain offers are now being linked to Facebook, and often require you to "Like" the store or product - to save your Facebook account being clogged up with crud and 'news' you don't care about, why not create a special FB account just for this stuff (and for competitions etc.)?
My alter-ego (just think up some silly name) just LOVES all these offers, competitions, etc. !! Right now he's best friends with Centra, 3- Mobile, E-Mobile, Jackobs Creek, Odlums.....:D

That's what "Super Shoppers" is doing, I have a seperate facebook account which I can get the coupons and then post them for other people to use without having to like the page. See my post above :)

there is free software out there called bullzip pdf printer.
it basically will save your printing files as a pdf so you can print them again and again. handy cos there always seems to be a page or 2 blank with some pigsback stuff.

I do it with all my coupons then save them to my pc connected to my printer and voila.

    *** Extreme Couponing ***

Sometimes it can pay to stash your coupons and wait for a BOGOF, "3 for 2" offer or other promo (like the Tesco Voucher Exchange) on the item. Then you can get the mutibuy/BOGOF offer and money off with the coupon. Even though almost every coupon says "not valid with any other offer or promotion" they usually just scan anyway. Just watch the valid until date on the coupon though.

I remember last summer pigsback had a Ben & Jerry's coupon which was €1.50 off a tub. At the same time Dunnes had a half price promo on it where it was €2.60 a tub. Stocked up then :)

    Yeah thats a good example.

Another tip is if you buy on a "3 for 2" offer you can use 3 money off coupons, 1 for each item. This works because you're actually buying all 3 items, but the store is refunding you the 3rd one. This also applies on a multibuy offer where you're getting an item free. You should still be able to use a money off coupon on the free item.

I had some €2 off a 1 litre tub of HB ice-cream last year.
Stocked up when Tesco had them on special for €1.99;)

Saved €11.70 using the Pigsback and BigAls vouchers. Most of the stuff was on offer as well but was still able to use the coupons.

    Thank you for "inspiration".
I dont have new coupons' "alerts" for now but tomorrow should be my first "couponing" experiment here in Ireland...let's see :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,413 ✭✭✭TeletextPear

This is a bit off topic but I thought Id add it anyway. I've been reading this guy's blog where he gets the most amazing couponing on for great deals http://www.pennyexperiment.com/ It's US based so unfortunately we can't really follow any of his tips but it still makes a great read!

Back on topic, the latest pigsback coupons have €1 off Johnson's Baby Bubblebath and this product is also 33% off at Tesco at the minute, so you should be able to get 500ml bottles for €1.66.

There's also a coupon for 50cent off Country Crest products, and Tesco have Country Crest 2.5kg Karlena potatoes at half price, so you could get these for €1.29 with the coupon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 tworascals

The johnsons is half price in supervalu so an even better deal!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 273 ✭✭meg3178

I decided to try a couponing experiment shop in tesco yesterday and for a first try was shocked at what I saved.
I used the pigsback, big al's and irish foods coupons. I got country crest baby potatoes with the 50c coupon for 39c!
In all, the bill was 118euro and after using the coupons it was 69euros! Some of the coupons didn't scan, but when the guy typed in the barcode number, they worked, so don't let it put you off....nearly 50e in your pocket is great in these times.
