    Hi Folks

wondering if anyone can help me
On a Sram system ( Rival ) I usually knew when I was in the largest sprocket
by shifting but only getting a "dumb Click"
IE : Shifter moves but nothing happens

Yesterday when I made the same move the deraileur moved me down 2-3 sprockets.

Am I screwed with a dodgy shifter or where else can I look

    cheers for your help

In my experience it's normal with doubletap to shift back up when you're at the end of the cassette.

    Some people find this annoying.

    Cheers Lumen

I always get confused with the High/Low - Up/Down language.

This is basically when I am in the 28 it flicks me back to the 23 sprocket

Is that what you have seen

    thanks again

In theory you're only supposed to upshift if you fail to move the lever past the short upshift position.

I find the "dumb click" has a sort of hateful thud about it (like you get when crunching gears in a car) and what little mechanical sympathy I have forces me to pay attention to gears and avoid using it.

I haven't managed to wear out my shifters yet but I'm using SRAM Red rather than Rival and they may be built slightly differently.

I don't know whether limit screws have any bearing on the symptoms. Maybe wind out the L screw a bit see if it makes a difference.

Hmm,i was arguing on here a while ago about how great sram shifters were, but I might have changed my mind, ive had two rival right hand shifters in the shop lately with broken parts inside and resulting in similar problems,i mistakenly thought parts were availible but after talking to the uk service centre have been corrected, but on the up side if it is broken they come with a two year warranty.
