No real surprise really, thought this was going to be his last chance to get them up.

Could slide into relegation, if they don't pick the right replacement.

Happens to a fair amount of clubs who have reached the C'ship playoffs.

It's no surprise as he's done poorly at Cardiff.

He's had 5 Premier League players on loan this season, spent decent money on the likes of Chopra and still failed to get them promoted. In recent seasons he's also players such as Joe Ledley and Aaron Ramsey at the club too.

He shouldn't have even lasted this long IMO as it was clear he couldn't take them any further than 3rd-6th.

I think you are a little harsh considering Cardiff are at least annual promotion hopefuls as opposed to also rans and not so long ago they were in the 4th tier of English football. It isn't any manager that will get them to an FA cup final again in the near future either. The big question is who can bring Cardiff to the next level because its a very competitive division?

Craig Bellamy is favourite to get the job according to SSN. There's so many reasons I can think of why that would be a bad decision

Alan Shearer's apparently a done deal to become their next manager.

What a disastrous appointment that will be.

I wonder what Bellamy makes of it all!!?

There's no chance of him going back there next year anyway, although Shearer will probably be sacked before January so they might get him on loan in the January window :pac:

    Seems a mad decision.

Meanwhile Swansea are in the PL on a shoestring budget and 20% supporter owned.

I don't see why it is so bad. We've only really seen the beginnings of Shearer as a manager, nowhere near enough to judge him on. Could go either way.

Seems an off choice considering Bellamy their top player wont play for Shearer.

Surely they could of brought in a better manager than Shearer AND kept Bellamy!?

Bellamy isn't a Cardiff player and I sincerely doubt they'll be able to afford to make him one next season.

Cardiff cant afford to be appointing rookie mangers like Shearer. They've had so many near misses in the last five seasons, its clear the club needs the steady hand of experience. Someone like McClaren would have been perfect for them if they had acted in time. Or even Chris Hughton.

Given the amount of money that was made available for Dave Jones to buy players with, i don't think the guy did anything more than a mediocre job.

I bet talks broke down over his financial demands.

He wanted £3.5m a year to take the Newcastle job after he initially took them down.

he was looking for nearly £4m a year??  He's obviously not living in the real world. He had zero experience and had won 1 game out of 8 with that Newcastle team. He'll never manage a club again if he continues to demand unrealistic wages. I understand that Sam Allardyce and Steve McClaren who are the new managers of West Ham and Nottingham Forest respectively, will earn somewhere in the region of £1.5m per annum. They 25 years managerial experience between them and are proven. And Shearer was looking for 2 million more than they currently earn? Laughable.

Fantastic, admirable player Alan, but a manager you will not make.
