    Hey all,

I'm currently in Australia and toying with the idea of buying a refurbished iPad 1 or a new iPad 2...

But my query is will there be any issues with using an Australian iPad back home?

Will I be restricted on what I can access on iTunes store for apps etc

    Cheers in advice

No, not at all. Regarding App's etc, its set up based on the country your iTunes account is set up to (Which can be easily changed)

Only issue I can think of is the screen being the wrong way due to the accelerometer still believing it's in the Southern Hemisphere.

Only things to worry about are the plug shape (don't worry about voltage) for the charger, and whether it's unlocked (only applies if you're getting a 3G model).

But don't you charge an iPad off the computer through a usb port?

Would only be getting the Wi-Fi

Yes and no. The iPad is a higher-power device. Typical USB ports provide 5V at 500mA (0.5A), which isn't enough to properly charge the iPad. It comes with a standalone charger (just has a USB plug to put your cable into) that can provide 2A, which charges it a good bit quicker.

Apple will fix that for you for €50.

But the USB connection is the same, both here and Australia yeah?

If so wouldn't a uk, USB to Plug thing not work...as my brother has one of those for his iPod

USB - Universal Serial Bus, it's in it's name to be the same across the world ;)

all ipads are global except for those 3G ones that are locked and verizon ones which don't have a sim slot at all.
