Unemployed people obviously have much time on their hands and I wonder what unemployed people do all day. Do you spend much time looking for work? What do you do with your lives?

Play pitch an putt. Occasionally buy a scratch card...if it wins...they drink it. Then they might open up a chipper van with their buddy.

    Here's my week:
    -Workout
    -Play World of Warcraft
    -Smoke some weed
-Go out for drinks on the weekend
    -Read boards
-Catch up on the latest HBO series
-Apply for one or 2 fas jobs, just to keep the welfare office off my case

It doesn't sound like you are serious when it comes to finding work, if I was unemployed I would feel ashamed that others are paying for my living.

Look for work (well kind of obvious I suppose). Cycling. Voluntary work. Doesn't fill the week as much as a real job would but it helps. Sometimes a bit of reading.

Sounds like you just wanna give out to the unemployed rather than actually caring what they do with their day. Get a life yourself and stop posting ridiculous threads.

Look for work anywhere and everywhere, go for walks, practice my driving, visit the grandparents, meet friends if they are off work. I like to keep busy or I'd go stir crazy!

I have no work, during the summer I plan to:

    Write a book
    Get fit
    Appreciate nature
Go see historical sites I have always wanted to
    Do some fishing
    Volunteer to help the needy
    Some gardening

Yeah so basically I will end up sitting at the computer talking sh!te or drinking with the lads

While I am not slating those that have paid their PRSI and deserve the money having been laid off for the forseeable future through no fault of their own, I can't help but say that if you are on the dole because you don't have anything esle to do, at least try to get a some sort of job. A grandiose Sense of entitlement can be an awful thing. Living on the dole for 10+ years isn't exactly a great standard of living.

    Studying Spanish
    Trying to read Ulysses
    Go to gym
Volunteer with Focus Ireland 3 days a week
Take care of the 6 cannabis plants I have in the attic
    Smoke a few spliffs
Watch Boardwalk, Wire and anything similar from the HBO vaults
    Sleep and Eat
    Collect Dole

Now where would I find the time to be looking for work?

If I was employed I would feel ashamed of being a tool of the man while the government gives most of the money I generate to rich bankers!

2-3 **** a day. Read the newspaper. Go to the gym. Listen to the radio. Go on boards. Grow weed.

What about the guys that sign on after they turn 18? You know, the people who probably have never worked? If they have some serious health problems or something, maybe I would agree. Sitting on the dole for 20 years isn't very fun I would imagine.

I hear your mother is partial to the occassional spit roast alright.

I bake, I garden, I make stuff, I research college courses, I apply for jobs, I help my Mam (do the shopping, bring her places, cook the dinner, allsorts) and I mind my nephew 2 or 3 days a week. There's only so many hours you can put into jobseeking before you're all out of stuff to apply for.

And I surf boards and watch loads of tv. Boring as hell, I need a better hobby.

    Get my dole,
    Go to the bookies,
Leave the toddler outside in the buggy for 15 min with only a t-shirt and shorts (cheap in Tescos this week) in the pissing rain because I had too much hash and thought he was the dog!
    Go get me lotto,
And 40 ciggies for the day,
    Go to the offy,
Sit down with me ma and drink Dutch Mould,
Complain to the CWO that she is cutting my Rent Allowance because I have my drug dealing bf staying with us, he is only out of prison, might as well give him a hand while he finds his feet.

    The usual really!

    Can't think of a stereotype I didn't include!
