Question on wedges

I got new irons recently and as a result my short game has become erratic. Looking into it more I see that my pitching wedge is 45 degrees and my sand wedge is a 55.

My issue is that my new pitching wedge is not working for me close in to the greens, I'm having to use the sand wedge.

Which brings me to wedges - what should I be looking at?

Personally, I don't like chipping with cavity backed clubs - it just feels wrong for some reason and my PW is a cavity back. I also think a SW is too lofted for chipping - you have to carry the ball too far on many shots. I got myself a 50 degree gap wedge which seems to have done the trick.

A Cleveland, Titleist or Mizuno 50 or 52 wedge is worth looking at to bridge the gap. Or perhaps even a 48 degree wedge might suit you also, if the 45 isn't suiting you close in.
