Is it illegal for a company to make up your wages every week by giving you a production bonus.I know someone payed only 6.95 euro per hour for a 39 hour week and then their wages are made up of production bonus and attendence bonus. If their late they lose their attendence bonus for that day.How can a company call them bonuses when they are really only to make up the minimum wage at the end of the week.Anyone come across this before?

This is against the law, but only an investigation by NERA can achieve anything.

Most places dock you for lateness, but if your paid be the hour then you are docked money based on a pro-rata basis by the time missed.

It will only be alegal on weeks where the production bonus is not met.

    What age is the person?

As long as the person comes out with minimum wage at the end of the week I don't think they can complain.
If their payslip shows a number of hours and an amount that corresponds to less than minimum wage the employer will have a problem.

Since 1 February 2011 the National Minimum Wage Act provides the following sub-minimum rates, see also 'Rates' below:

An employee who is under 18 is entitled to €5.36 per hour (this is 70% of the minimum wage)
An employee who is in the first year of employment since the age of 18 is entitled to €6.12 per hour (80% of minimum wage)
An employee who is in the second year of employment since the date of first employment over the age of 18 is entitled to €6.89 per hour (90% of the minimum wage)

Therefore the person can earn less than minimum wage if its only their 2nd year working or less
