Put my Mitsubishi l200 through the DOE last week, Failed because rear left brake was too bright .

When i got home i checked it out , I found that when i turn the lights on the left brake light comes on, when I brake theres not really any change. I tried replacing the bulb but that didn help.

Any other ideas to fix this ?

It sounds like the bulb is incorrectly fitted, try rotating the bulb 180 degrees.

The bulb should only go in one if it's a combined stop/tail unit but if the holder is a bit iffy or worn you could put it in wrong. Otherwise, strange electrical behaviour is usually poor connections or bad earths.

Ye the bulb would only fit in the one way but i decided to remove one of the rivets that hold the bulb in place. I put it in the ''wrong'' way, that did the job. Dunno what caused the problem but happy enough that its sorted.

    cheers lads

thats a common thing with spurious lamps for l200 they come wired the wrong way round on the stop tails you just need to swap the wires. I've had to do it a few times on my own
