His songs came on my playlist on the PC and jaysus but I miss him. I never knew him personally, but I love and loved his work.

His work hasn't been removed from history and you didn't know him personally. I'm sure there are superior songwriters out there, go look for them. Or listen to his old stuff over and over again, it's up to you.

Oh yeah, and Lady Gaga is far superior to Ronnie Drew, both in music and looks.

    I'm still here :)

OP, Ronnie Drew might not be with us any more, but he definitely still lives on. If you go to a Dubliners concert, it's evident he wont be forgotten.

    I miss John Peel.

Anyway, remember Ronnie Drew used to do spots on the radio years ago for "My Dublin" (or something similar). I used to like that.

Don't be so ridiculous. He had the sort of old drunken 'bowsie' image that give people from Dublin / Irish a bad name...

Poor guy lived long enough to see/hear that shyte "tribute song".

They could have at least waited before they shat on his memory.

Grabbing a name like 'The Dubliners ' was a crafty move .Who's going to forget that name and brand , even if you weren't born seven miles wide of Moore street .

I absolutely love the dubliners. Had them playing on my ipod a lot lately within the past month.
    I love these songs:
    Lord of the dance

    Rambling rover

    Oro se do bheatha bhaile

    The black velvet band

    The banks of the roses

    Seven drunken nights

Dont give up til its over

    South australia

Dublin in the rare old times

    Whiskey in the jar

    The wild rover

    Raglan road

    Roisin the bow

    The fields of athenry

    Dirty old town

    The irish rover

I don't think he had that image at all. He sang a few drinking songs but sang plenty of other ones that weren't about being a bowsie.
