Went out this morning for a few bunnies and as I was in a hurry I just grabbed a fistful of cartridges from the "found in pockets" box and headed out. I used 9 or 10 remmies and got 3 rabbits, but I knew well that I was bang on target for all bar 1.The patterns were brutal. I then used 6 Eleys and what do you know,6 bunnies out of 6! I also noticed that on 2 of the first there was a group of shot in each with about 5 pellets in 2 square inches. Not great when they're for the pot! The meat was shagged:( I got them from about 30 yards. All the rabbits I got with the Eleys only had 5 or so shot in them from about the same distance and it was well scattered from head to tail. I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. 36gm 4 remmies and 32gm 4 Eley. I know one thing for sure,I WON'T be using Remington cartridges again...ELEY all the way for me from here on in...

i find the remmies far better for foxes than the Eley, more stopping power. The eleys are good too for bunnies.crows and pigeons. I am more a remmie man but ive started buying eleys now as there a lot cheaper. hobbies and sports in Lucan sell 6s 32,34 grams for 6.50 so you cant beat that for a bit of shooting.

I was just disappointed with the remmies performance for the price. I found the Eleys to be much more consistent pattern wise. As for charlie,IMHO there ain't a cartridge that can even look at an Alphamax Magnum:)

I find the same with the Remingtons, got a box of them last year at the start of the season. I Shot 3 cocks one morning and they were in bits, every bone in their bodies were bust they're legs were backwards and everything, it wasn't like I shot them on the sod or anything either,

I find the eleys to be a way better cartridge.

remmies great for ducks, but supergame for pheasants and rabbits. thats what i like. like alphamax for a fox.

I use remington for woodcock and snipe shooting and find them a good enough round for what i need i use 8's and 7's for it. the 6's and 4's are very good for duck shooting too.

I used the Remington 36g 4 as well & pattern had lots of gaps with tight spots in places.......same as you. I was using half choke.

Before writing them off (as I had a good few boxes) I patterened them with 3/4 choke in.....brilliant pattern with even spread & no gaps. I now use them for duck shooting.

Before writing them off pattern them with different chokes........then you'll find the best combination.

Nice one J.R., I'll save the few boxes I have left for september and give it a go. But I'll definately be stickin to the Eley for charlie and the bunnies. sounds like a dodgy shooting band! cheers..LR
