Old bike new wheels?

Had hoped to upgrade to a new bike checked out all the”what bike should I chose threads”. I had decided on a excellent short-list either an entry level carbon or a aluminium frame with good wheel and maybe 105.


I presently ride a 12 years old cro moly frame, weight about 11kg, the wheels are bontrager “Vuelta”it a good bike possibly entry level road bike and has served me well I paid about 600 punts and certainly have got my monies worth.


So as money is tight I will have to delay the new bike, so I am thinking of putting a new set of fairly good quality wheels maybe entry level Askium or fulcrums, feel free to recommend a set of wheels if you wish.


So would this be a good idea or would I be better holding off and using the money for the new bike. My logic is that a set of good wheels are as important as a good frame (all relative of course). New wheels would help increase my speed etc

Hold off till you get your new bike.
You're not going to notice anything extra by having the new wheels, except the fact you will have a spare set of wheels when you have your new bike.

you wont no yourself on a new set of fancy wheels,smooth and sleek!And when the new bike arrives youl have a lovely spare set waiting for it

I really dont think you will see much diff with aksiums etc. Maybe with mavic kysiriums or that price range (400e +).......will notice better rolling, lighter etc but for that kind of money I would hold out for a new bike....entry level carbon c1000e
