Civil Ceremony venues - where to start

I need to start looking for a venue for a civil ceremony. I've absolutely no idea where to start! I rang the registry office today to see if they'd have a listing of registered venues and apparently they don't.
I've no idea where to go or what I want!
It'd be small enough so don't want a big room in a hotel and not really sure I want it in a hotel anyway.
We're in Cork. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to get started on a list of venues??

Look at hotels first that you'd like to consider, and then see if they are licensed to hold a civil ceremony. As far as I know though you still have to apply to the closest registrar to that hotel, to get the particular OK for your own wedding but if the hotel already has the overall license to host civil ceremonies, I think that's just a formality that you must go through.

i know that blackrock castle is allowed to hold civil ceremony's. they have a range of rooms to suit most budgets. but the most they can cater for is 100 i think

might be worth a look if you want something traditional but still a civil ceremony.

I was actually there a few weeks ago having lunch and there was a wedding at the time.
It's a lovely venue but i was put off by the fact that loads of strangers sitting down eating their lunch are looking out at you!
