Triax TR112 Manual Settings

Hi lads. I bought a Triax TR112 today and the automatic installation gave extremely poor results....little or no reception...picture and sound breaking up etc. So, I did a manual install and that works ok so far. According to the Saorview website my location offers up this info:

    Site:
    KIPPURE

    Site On-Air:
    Yes

    Channel:
    54

    AERIAL
    INFORMATION

    Polarization:
    H

    Direction to:
    point (degrees)
    East (74)

So in the manual installation menu I've put the channel as 54 but what values should I put in in the Frequency and Bandwidth fields?

Where are you in Tipperary? There are a number of transmitters covering the county. The one suggested by the coverage checker may not always be the best one.

Which transmitter do you use for analogue TV?

Are you using an external aerial? Is it the correct one for the transmitter?

Tell us how the STB is connected by aerial. Suitable UHF aerial on roof pointing towards transmitter will provide best results. If in a particularly strong area of reception, indoor or suitable attic aerial might suffice but will still provide less than optimal results. Some reading/viewing:

Aerials Tuning Saorview Good series of videos on YouTube for the Triax TR112 uploaded by tvtrade.ie. This one might help:

You will find frequency for Kippure at 'Tuning Saorview' above. Try 8 MHz in the bandwidth field. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanx for the replies lads. I'm in Roscrea which uses the Maghera transmitter but when I searched my exact address it came up with Kippure which gave me better reception than with the Maghera coordinates. I have a UHF aerial on the roof. Funny thing is though that now I have good TV reception I only have 1 radio station and when I did the automatic scan it came with a load of radio stations (which of course suffered from the same fate as the automatically tuned TV stations).

If you are in Roscrea it'd be worth your while trying Kilduff at channell 52. Kilduff is just east of the gap in the Devil's Bit. You are literally only a few miles from the transmitter. Unless the Bit is blocking you, you should get it from there.

Sound. Thanx for that. I'm actually on the Templemore Road in Roscrea. I'll give that a go now :D

Have you tried for DTT from Maghera Ch 48? In the same aerial group as the analogue channels from Maghera - Group CD.

Odd that its only picking up the radio channels, are you sure it's the TR112 and not the TR110 model? The TR110 which is not fully compliant will give the radio channels but not the TV channels.

Have you tried tuning to Mount Leinster :D

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

It's a TR 112 alright. I think you might have read that wrong though...it's picking up the TV stations grand but only one radio station. And yeah I tried the Maghera/48 one first but got much better results tuning it in to the Kippure/54 setup.
