taxing used car i just bought

    Hi, just bought a car, tax expired in april, received cert of ownership today. Dont have pin for motor tax website, what do you do first time you have to tax a used car you just bought? go up in person to tax office?

    Yup, first time you have to do it in person, after that you get a pin

    I think you can use the last 6 digits of the VIN no.

    It might be useful for your next purchase to know that you didn't need to wait for the registration cert, you could have taxed it straight away but that still doesn't change the fact you still needed to go in person (or get someone else to go for you).

    The 6 digits of the VIN only work for first time registrations of new/imported cars.
