Advive sought on damaged potato plants...

    Hi

Need some advice on some garden veg...

Planted several fruit & veg. in the garden for the first time this year (potatoes, onions, strawberries, cabbage, lettuce, rhubarb, peas, raspberries).

    All are coming along swimmingly.

We've been lucky though. Planted them around mid-march and escaped frost.

However, recent strong winds and torrential rains have damaged about half of the first early potatoes. Stalks were between 3/4 and 1 metre high and flowers were just staring to show. Now many are either bent over or broken entirely.

Questions is, what should I do with the damaged plants. Dig them out or leave them for another few weeks?

    Advice appreciated.

    Peter

Have had much the same experience. Suggest you earth them up again and feed them ., any stalks that are broken remove them and for the rest just take a chance. It is unfortunate as potatoes would be just beginning to swell at this time but hopefully crop may not be ruined at you may still get some nice potatoes. No advantage to be gained from taking them out at this point.;)
