Only a couple of km left, no major attacks at the moment by any GC contenders on the penultimate mountain stage

Paolo Tiralongo (Astana) won the stage with Bert 2nd. Bert could've easily won the stage but decided to give Tiralongo the win (they were team-mates last year).
Nibali was third, followed by Gadret and Rodriguez.

Contador shows how you keep your former teammates on your side:D

Interesting finish, Bertie blew them away, he makes them look like amateurs !! Nibali gains a few more seconds on Scarponi, and Bertie has a new nick-name: Santa Claus. How many 'friends' has he now for the TDF ??!!

He cycled up that slope with ease. He's some animal.

contador pays back a former teamate
Alberto Contador: 'I have been thankful to the Italian tifosi since the very early stages, and I'm even more after today's. You have to take advantage of every chance you're given, you know, and my legs were okay today, so I gave it a try. But in front was a good friend of mine such as Tiralongo, and I'm happy that he won. I'm even happier than I would have won today's stage myself. He did a great job for me in the past years, in past TdFs. He deserves this victory, and much more. And yes, I'd like to have him back as a teammate again ...'.

Just seen the repeat on Eurosport. That's the second time he's gifted a stage this Giro after prancing up a hill, no sign of being under pressure, when everyone else is balls deep in a sufferfest. If he was feeling the climb at all he has one hell of a poker face! The steak must be particularly savoury in the Saxo kitchen these days. The Astana rider deserved the win but what bertie did cheapens the whole race and the effort the other riders put into it (IMO :))

Maybe completely naive, but I dont think Contador is juiced. If he was caught then not only this, but his appeal, would be shot to pieces. I just can't see him taking that risk.

I think we are looking at an amazing cyclist in action. It is clear that he is working hard, his style makes it appear easy.

This Giro has suited him, but Scarponi learned after the 1st mountain finish that's its pointless to try to with him, he was able to reel him back in later. Conta has an amazing kick, but he slows back down after it, he usually get a gap and I think at that stage he has 'broken' his rivals. His climbing speed is quite erratic really.

Naive, history says yes, but I actually think not

David Harmon: "Contador is the perfect leadout man for an uphill finish."
Sean Kelly: "Him or a 250cc Kawasaki".
