I purchased a 2008 low mileage mondeo mk 4 ('08) a few days ago. Looking at the window seals, the bottom edge on all the doors, rubber has moss growing on them . WHen i went to clean them, the rubber is crumbling and flaking away. I haven't seen this happen on a car since the 1980s !! I have driven german brands up to now but surely Ford add some kind of anti-mould formula to the rubber they use for window seals etc?

That's odd, i've an 05 mk3 and they're fine. Must have cut back in ingredients on the mk4. Shouldn't be happening for sure!

Every year I coat all the seals with Silicon Spray, keeps them in good nick and creates a better seal.

Just make sure you dont get any on the windows, total ar$e to get off :p

Seals arent that big a deal to replace anyway, just held on with some clips.
