    Hi Everyone

Soon I may have to commute from North of Dublin, on the M1, join the M50 and get off at Exit 5.

I really need some pointers as to just how bad rush hour gets (7.00am - 9.00am say)

Does the traffic back up and stop coming off the M1 to join the M50??

Does the M50 move at a reasonable pace?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Dave

The M1/N1 can be busy from junction 3 all the way to Drumcondra. You get a lot of idiots on the section from junction 3 to the M50 and vice versa. There are road works from junction 2-3 at the moment.

Depending on you exact destination, it might be useful to use M1-J2 and the back roads or M50-J4.

If you start from west of the M1, consider using the N/M2.

For those days when you want to leave the car at home, get a number 33 bus or train and number 17a (Howth Junction-Finglas-BLanchardstown).

Have you been on the M1 lately? Those roadworks are pretty much done (really can't see why the cones are still there) and at rush hour there's maybe 2-3 minutes added to the journey in that area compared to a clear run in.

    Pretty poor advice.

The M1 from Balbriggan -> M50 M7 is absolutely fine, as is everything further on. All days of the week the traffic flows freely aside from when accidents occur. Absolutely no need to consider back road in this day and age.

Op - check out the journey times when you want to travel
