Hi guys...as a recent "new comer!" to shooting pigeons, I was just wondering do people generally respect the breeding paterns of pigeons or do they just bang away all year round???

They have a season, November to January, and other than that can only be shot while protecting crops which more or less limits shooting them to when crops are being sown or are ripening and before they are cut. Pigeon can breed all year round with main breeding season during the summer.

Just to add you can shoot pigeons if they are likely to cause damage. So you do not actually have to be shooting them on a crop where there is standing corn and they are flattening it you could shoot them on the next door stubble and be perfectly correct in what you are doing.

You can shoot pigeons all year round if there attacking your crops. Going or coming to attack your crops.

    Mod Note:
Lads, the next bitching-over-nothing session that hijacks a thread like that earns people long holidays. We've had to delete more than twice as many posts in here that were just pure bitchiness as we've left or edited because they were actually on topic.
Seriously, give it a rest already.

Thanks lads...I was aware that my thread would attract "bitchiness", forums for some reason attract bitches....anyway. I was just trying to find out what the consensus was on it as there does seem to be a lot of confusion on the subject! :)

Walked 200 acres of barley today and not a pigeon in sight.
However I did see another 300 acres else where of winter barley that is starting to sprout.

Give it a week or two and the Pigeons will be in full flight
