Hooked up rabbits ears to my TV and can get digital radio(10 RTE stations) but only analogue TV. Is this because the TV Is not MPEG-4?

Yeah, the same thing happens with a TV in my house because it isn't MP4 compatible, it's MP2.

Although Saorview video is MP4 encoded, the audio isn't (MP2, right?) so your TV can decode that, and you'll hear just the sound.

One more question! The quality of the Radio reception is perfect, does this mean that I will be able to avoid a rooftop aerial and continue using the rabbits ears when I buy the receiver?

    MPEG4 H.264 AVC Level 4. MP4 is something else.

    Indoor Aerial
Maybe. But a loft aerial at least or roof top is better. You are very susceptible to interference on indoor.

Most people need a roof aerial.
