    Hi,

Can i get a more puncture proof tyre to replace the current Maxxis Columbiere 700x32mm on my bike. I've read about the Marathon ones, similar to Dublinbikes, but am concerned that they wont fit. Are there any other options? My current tyre are tubeless, does this make a difference?

    Thanks

You should look at the specialized tyres. I have the Nimbus Armadillo on two bikes. I find that for commuting and general road cycling the super tough compound in the Armadillo is great. I think Specialized so do two of all their tyres, one with the Armadillo compound and one without. As I said that what I'm running and I haven’t had a flat since last August. Also have Continental Gator Skis that work really well.

Are you commuting on them or going long distance?

Short daily commute to work, then training and finally home. Approx 15 - 20k

If no punctures is your only want then the scwalbe marathon plus. I wouldn't use them for any long distance as the reinforced side wall means you can start to really feel every bump after awhile but great puncture proof tyres.

I also use the continental GP4000S, which I find great, not as bullet proof but I have had no punctures on them and they are very comfortable on the road.

I had continental gator skins but seemed to have very bad luck with them in the past, averaging a puncture a day with my old set, I just threw them in the bin. Got another set with my new bike which I'll have to try and sell off soon.

Correction, the gator skins were fine, I was thinking of the ultra sports I had

+ 1 for the continental gator skins. Done over 2000 winter Kms and only 2 max puntures good rolling speed and great grip.

I had over 5,000kms (mainly commuting) on a set of Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700x32 on my last bike without incident.

My new bike is fitted with Continental Gator Skins 700x23 (dealer wouldn't fit Schwalbes) but too early to tell yet as I only have 500kms up. The Schwalbes gave more peace of mind though - I'm thinking of changing again to them.

I also have about 2,000 kms without a puncture on Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres. After 2 punctures in a week on some normal tyres while commuting I switched to the Schwalbes. Great tyres. Haven't been using that bike for a while now but there's still loads of tread and wear left on the tyres.

    Thanks for the responses.

Continental Gator Skins vs Schwalbe Marathon plus. Do most bike shops in Dublin stock and fit these for me?

I have a pair of marathon plus with little wear if you'd like to try before you buy, based in Dublin if you want to PM me.
