hi there, i got my nexus s a couple of weeks ago. I bought a screen protector when I got the phone but quickly chucked it as it completely distorted the screen (it looked pixelated)

I've heard about the Zagg invisibleShield but also read some bad reviews saying that it feels weird.

I've been using the nexus s for the last few days without any protector and it looks fantastic, I'm tempted not to put one on at all....am I loco?

Screen protector is useless, screen is made of hardened glass. Gel case is not useless tho.

Apparently the screen is not the gorilla glass stuff that everyone raves about, so I'm a little worried that it will get scratched. How scratch proof do you think the regular glass would be?

It's hardened glass not normal glass. Gorilla Glass is just a marketing term. Take your keys and try to scratch the screen, you can't. Phones today are nothing like what we had a few years ago. Flimsy sheets of plastic are pointless.

Would ya say the same of all new phones yeah?

Got the xperia play and a screen protector came with it but couldn't get it on without air bubbles(disaster of an operation). Anyway that one is ruined now, so was wondering do I need to buy a new one and try get it on, or is there any point?

The Nexus screen isnt very "hardened". it'll scratch fairly easy without a screen protector on it, ive seen it happen already. I got a 6 pack of screen protectors off ebay for it and they are great. I forgot it was even on the phone and even after 3 months its holding up nicely. Its essential to get the screen protector on properly in the beginning, then it'll never bother ya again. i hate to see them with bubbles in them.

Haven't seen any modern phone scratch, including the Nexus. You have to really go out of your way to scratch the screen, so much force that the plastic is useless. Have seen shattered screens is all. Hecklar you are talking rubbish, take keys in hand, try to scratch screen hard = no marks. Sure you could break it with a chisel action, but lol?

There is no comparison to old phones: one day with keys in bag = screen unreadable.

@gooch: I would be surprised is there were any phones around using normal glass. Maybe the cheap ones? Those sony phones aren't very good tbh :)

Like i said about you before, If you had a brick of shit with an android logo on it, you would say its the bestest android brick of shit on the planet. I dunno why you find it so difficult to admit everything you buy isnt "perfect" in your little android world and you seem to be oblivious to faults of anything you own. Brands love sheep like you.

Why in gods name would i take my keys to my phone? thats the most retarded argument ive ever witnessed, I HAVE light scratches on my Nexus just from being in my pocket with keys etc. I didnt even have to try!

To the sane among us, Stick a screen protector on if you wanna avoid surface scratching from being in your pocket and rubbing against other stuff etc, While the glass is decent, is not magical and it wont prevent scratches from other hard objects it comes in contact with. You'd be a fool to believe that.

I was always using a screen protector on my Galaxy S, but for the past month have taken it off and not had one single scratch...

The screen protector was giving the phone an awful glare in the sun I noticed and was always harder to read the screen..

It's up to yourself really... It's costing ya nothing having it on like, just a matter of opinion really...

While I do think that a certain level of verbal 'dressing down' is warranted in some discussions, I feel that Hecklar overstepped the mark with what bordered on an abusive rant - infraction awarded.

To all concerned, keep criticism civil or at least warranted and commensurate to what is being criticized.
