    Hi Guys,

I've been called to a couple of interviews this coming Friday in Belfast with some recruitment agencies both have emailed me and we have had phone conversations, in both cases I have been to told to bring my passport, copies of my CV, proof of college attended etc. etc. Just wondering if this is normal practice ? I'm not inferring anything just curious about the passport issue.

    Regards

Normal practices now, I've had to provide a copy of my passport to agencies here in the Republic. As far as i know it's to insure you are an EU citizen and can work legally without the need for a work permit.

A passport makes a Garda background check very easy. Many companies do this now. They usually get your permission to perform the check but they don’t have to. All normal now..

Not so - Garda vetting checks can only be undertaken with the written consent of the subject. No consent = no vetting = no job.

i watched a bit on the tv the other day where a uk agency bought in passport scanners (the same ones they have in airports) every body gets theirs scanned out of about 12-1300 people the scanner picked up 45 fakes at a £10,000 fine each it saved the company a potencial 450,000 fine:eek:
