I am travelling from Dublin to Oslo this weekend *fingers crossed*, and need to get about €400 converted to Norwegian Kroner.

Anyone know where is the best to get this?

Is it a bad idea to get it exchanged at Dublin airport? (higher commission?)

    Thanks

Would you not just take it out of the ATM when you get there?

I've been to the US, UK, Australia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Poland and Japan in the past few years, and I just used the ATMs (brought yen to Japan admittedly, but really only did this so that I could check out the cool money and show it to everyone before I left :D)

Your Credit Union probably has the best rates if you need/want the money now. Not sure if you'll have time to order it. If you don't need cash until you arrive the next best is as the previous poster says and use an ATM when you arrive, but not with your credit card!

If you ATM card has the Maestro symbol then you'll be fine. Pretty sure it will have.

No my card doesn't have that symbol.
Think I will just change the money at airport.

Airports will generally rip you off, it's best to avoid them. Surely you can go to a bank or something and change it?

Norwegian kroner is often pretty hard to get hold of so ring around before you leave the house. It's generally best to order it in at your bank to be sure of getting it. I have been disappointed so many times that I have resorted to transferring it to my Norwegian account and using a cash machine over there to take it out.

I went to Oslo a couple monhs ago and rang around the banks, they all needed over a week to order it in for me. I then tried my credit union who were brilliant, they ordered then and there for me, the only thig is that it does take 3 days.

Id say OP your best shot might be to use the airport bureau de change, hope it works out for you :)

I went to the bank today but they have to order it in, and it wouldn't be there until next Wednesday, so I won't have time to get it there.

I'm just gonna get it changed at airport.
