Looking for jewellery supplies

    Hi all,

I am progressing with some jewellery making and I am trying to source some sterling silver wire in 12 gauge and 14 gauge.
I would prefer if I could see what I am buying so am looking for an Irish supplier. I live in the Midlands but could pop up to Dublin if I had to.
Or if any of you have experience, and recommendations of supplies ordered online, I would appreciate a point in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

I know of two places that sell beading supplies, not sure if they'll have what you need but they might be able to point you in the right direction if they don't.

    Beads and Bling
    Yellowbrick Road

Both are in the city centre, on either side of the HaPenny Bridge so pretty accessible. Don't have their numbers to hand but they probably have websites etc.

Other than that, there's a jewelry manufacturer (as opposed to retailer) on Abbey St near the HaPenny, called Osbornes afaik. They might be a better bet actually.

    Hi Nevore,

I had no luck with the bead shops, they only sell plated wire, Osbornes, I am having trouble finding contact info online but plan a trip to the big shmoke soon....
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction

I work on middle abbey st. I think they keep odd hours, but if they're open when I'm passing, I'll pop in and ask. At the very least I should be able to get a phone number.
So it's pure stuff you need, not other stuff covered in silver?

NN Enterprises at 4 Eustace Street, Temple Bar, they're a bullion dealer and have everything precious metal related.

If you don't mind not seeing it first, you'll get it cheaper online from cooksons though, www.cooksongold.com.

Because of the price of silver lately, you might find it useful to get some copper wire to practice on, you can get a range of gagues and know exactly what and how much you need when you're ready to try silver. I've used www.wires.co.uk.

    Have fun :)

If you don't mind ordering from the USA you could try firemountaingems online. They have a huge catalog that has EVERYTHING.

    Hi Nevore,
I appreciate you offering to do that for me, for the moment I might try what "thegreyman" has suggested and do a trial run with wire before I make the big investment into silver. Thanks for that suggestion.
Also to "Vicbowling" I will have a look at the website and see what they have.
Thanks guys, I'll go off and have fun and let ye all know how I get on!

    :)
