    Hi mate,

I would recommend Sony Vegas 10 Pro. It is an awesome piece of kit and isn't too bad to pick up. I am not an expert or advanced video editor but I know it is reputable.

Took me a while to get to grips with, but there are tonnes of tutorials on youtube that can help you out. It is expensive but you can "acquire" a copy to see what you think and then purchase it if you think its for you.

    Good luck :)

I use adobe première and find it a very easy program to use. It has cut down versions of After Effects effects that are very easy to use in the program. Being part of the same family of products that after effects is in also makes moving into that piece of software easier.

After effects can do editing but is more for special effects.

I enjoy wasting away the hours messing with the windows movie maker that came with my pc but find it fairly restricted in its ability.

Would the sony and adobe programs mentioned above be able to compete with the likes of apples final cut program or does windows not have an equivilant?>

The two Adobe products are used by broadcasters and studios. I've read articles about people learning after effects for working on the likes of avatar.

    Excellent,

Thanks for that. I know final cut was used for many movies, True Grit being one so good to see windows has an option there too.
