We are due to leave Ireland in August for 1 year. Since we will be renting accommodation abroad we hope to rent out our family home while we're gone. Just a few questions in this regard. Firstly, we will definitely only be away August 2011 to August 2012 and will obviously want to move back in to our home then, what are the implications of offering a tenant a one year lease, could we run into problems on our return if tenant refuses to leave? Secondly, what changes do I need to make to our household insurance policy? Do I take out landlord insurance to run alongside the existing policy or do I replace one policy with a new one? Any advice or recommendations of helpful websites would be much appreciated!
