Toyota Lies

Hi, I'm buying a 2011 Yaris on the scrappage scheme (which I was told this morning was delayed by 3/4 weeks due to earthquake).

Toyota are advertising 3 years servicing and 1 year free road tax on all their advertisements.
I have spoken to the garage about this and they've said that the offer ended months ago and that it shouldn't still be advertised.

How are Toyota allowed to get away with this?

You garage need to keep up to speed with the offers

It's an add not a contract.

Offer ends on 30. June 2011 so it's not the Toyota that is lying, it's the garage...

I said this to the Garage on the 30th of April and they said it's not true.

Who is mistaken? Toyota or the Garage?

    Ok, Thanks.

How do I go about convincing them to change their minds?

I'd say the garage are incorrect as they are advertising on their website that it is available until the 30th of June 2011.

I'd ring your garage and point this out to them or else ring Toyota Ireland and ask them to explain it to the dealer.

It's on their radio ads I think.

@OP: Why don't you ring another few Toyota dealers, even a few outside Cork, and see if they're offering the servicing? Then if your dealer doesn't play ball, cancel the order and go with the other guy?

Edit: Way too slow at replying!

    http://toyota.ie/about/promotions/scrappage-deal/

It clearly states till the 30th June. Personally I'd avoid any garage who tries to tell you otherwise.

    Terms and Conditions
    1. This offer is limited to Toyota passenger vehicles sourced only from Toyota Ireland, purchased from an Authorised Toyota Dealer in the Republic of Ireland and newly registered on or between 1st May 2011 and the 30th June 2011. Your ability to negotiate your deal is not affected in any way by this offer.
    2. The 1 year’s free road Tax is only applicable to Yaris or Aygo purchased during the 1st May 2011 and the 30th June 2011 and will be paid for by the Authorised Toyota Ireland Dealer from whom the car is purchased from.

The garage is trying to get out of paying the tax.

Maybe it's just the individual salesperson who's not up to speed on the offer? Hardly grounds to avoid the garage at all costs.

OP; were you supposed to have your car deliverd to you before the 31st of April? (you say it will be between 3 and 4 weeks late, but not when it was due initially).

If so, that could be what is causing the confusion. The ad says cars registered between May 1st and June 30th, and the salesman may be confusing "registerd between" with the promised delivery time of April.

No, I only signed up for the credit check on 30th April.

Thanks for all your help folks.
I just went straight to Toyota Ireland and asked them.
    http://www.toyota.ie/contact/

They said the offer applies to all Yaris models across Ireland, it's an offer they're offering.

I couldn't get in contact with the dealer, but I've texted him to ask him to sort it out for me, I'll update when I hear back.

He just contacted me back and told me that he has applied the 3 years free servicing and 1 years road tax.

Car due to arrive 23rd June.

    Now I'm confused.
Maybe it was all a big understanding.
