    Review by Ken Rockwell

Has anyone picked up one of these yet? Looks a nice little lens. In most B&M shops for €229, so it's half the price of the 1.4 G.
I'm thinking it would go well on the D7000, so would like some feedback.

    Cheers.

It does look pretty nice all right, shame about the G but whatever, Daire, get with the times. For the d7000 though for a normal walkaround lens you'd probably be as well off with the year old 35mm DX. From what I recall it should be a bit cheaper again.

Thanks for the reply. the 35 is exactly the same price, and what I was getting next, untill this came across my radar recently. I suppose neither would be the "wrong" one really.

due to the crop factor, the 50mm might be a bit short for day to day, 35mm on cropped = bout 50mm on a 35mm, and 50mm is circa what out eye sees, tho any upgrades to full frame will reduce your megapixel count with the 35mm as the full frames detect the dx format and crop the sensor to prevent vignetting
