Cross-post from Decerto. Original thread is here:
    http://www.decerto.net/v4/index.php?threads/dublin-esports-event-24-25-26th-june-post-interest.41921/
There's also a thread in the Fighting Games section for the SSFIV:AE tournament.

Tournament dates: Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th
    Tournament format: Double elimination
    Venue: Ballyfermot College, Dublin
    Ruleset: Decerto
    Max teams: 32
    Min teams: 8
Entry fee: €30 per player (€120 per team, €10 spectating)

I NEED ALL INTERESTED TEAMS AND PLAYERS WHO ARE INTERESTED TO POST IN THE THREAD ON DECERTO OR E-MAIL ME SO I CAN MAKE A LIST TO HAVE NUMBERS. This is so that I can secure sponsorship for hardware and potentially prizes.

I intend to do my very best to make sure this tournament is turnup and play, however you may need to bring your own wired controller and headset.

Prize pot is entirely fuelled by attendance, and the event is completely non-profit. Aside from a small contingency for cables etc., all entry money goes directly back to prizes. I have a spreadsheet set up which anyone can view showing prize pots, but for example:

    If 8 teams:
    1st place: €560
    2nd place: €224
    3rd place: €120

    If 16 teams:
    1st place: €1120
    2nd place: €448
    3rd place: €224

    If 32 teams:
    1st place: €2240
    2nd place: €896
    3rd place: €448

Hi folks! We're running a LAN event in Dublin which will include a Black Ops tournament on 360 (plus CoD4 PC, QuakeLive and Super Street Fighter IV tourneys). The event is taking place from June 24th to the 26th, but from preliminary feedback most Black Ops players would like their tournament running on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th.

The event is being hosted at the Ballyfermot College of Further Education in Dublin 10, so it's convenient enough to town - Just hop on the bus. TowLy was kind enough to make a travel guide for those who are interested in travelling from over the water, and between him in that thread and feedback from others it seems to be working out at £75-150~ total if anyone were to come from England, though I've heard flights can be as little as £5~ each way.

The event times are 9am to 6pm each day, which then leaves some time to have a laugh with your team and mates, head into a town for a drink, etc. There is no camping at the event itself, but we've secured a deal with a local hotel at a rate of €25 per person per night. Check this thread for more information on this. We're also compiling a hotel list, but there are lots of options because Dublin is the capital after all.

We'll also try to run a fun Free-for-All tournament on the last day after the finals to let off some steam and just have a laugh before leaving or going away to get pished. Any left over contingency money from the main tournament may also be included as prizes.

If the community would rather €35 or €40 entry, then the prize pot goes up significantly, but I need the interest. The tournament will be all ages, though of course no drinking for the young'uns at the event hall - I'll be making a consent form.

TEAMS AND PLAYERS WHO ARE INTERESTED, GET IN TOUCH HERE, DECERTO, MY SKYPE, E-MAIL, WHATEVER. JUST DO IT.
If you need a team, try here.

PAYMENTS - PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY

All teams and players must have paid before the event. Unfortunately, PayPal is the only method we can use for payment.

Please note that PayPal charge a fee for using them, however if you are paying from Ireland you will still only need to pay €30 as the fee estimate appears to be less than the €2 contingency (€28 goes towards prizes). If you pay from the UK with GBP it will have a conversion fee - The estimate for payment is £30.76. Please remember this charge is out of our control.

Payments of either €30 per player or €120 per team must be made to the following account using PayPal:
    ekilbride@gmail.com

For the paranoid, the main event is run by this person, and all funds must go through this account. He teaches at the college the event is hosted at.

WHEN YOU HAVE PAID, YOU MUST SEND A CONFIRMATION OF PAYMENT E-MAIL TO emsixteen@gmail.com WITH THE FOLLOWING TITLE:
'Dublin eSports Event Payment - Black Ops'

In the e-mail you need to include:
    • PayPal transaction ID.
    • Paid players' real names and usernames.
    • Team name.
    • Indicate the team captain.
    • Will a manager be attending (for passes to event).

Please note in the event of a cancellation the PayPal fee will be deducted from the initial amount. No cancellations will be accepted after June 3rd 2011.

There will be a nominal charge of €10 for spectating for the entire 3 day event. Please note this will NOT be a turn up and spectate event. For security reasons only those who have booked will receive spectator passes to the event. Again follow the same procedure above for paying and registering with an email to emsixteen@gmail.com. Obviously just your name and nationality will be needed plus your email. Your pass will be available for collection at the event.

Team passes will be available for pick up at the event and shall be given to the team captain (upon showing ID).

Prize funds will be transferred directly to the Ballyfermot College of Further Education account. Prizes will then be released from the college to the various winners.

Sounds awesome man, hope it turns out good tbh. If you want or can be bothered, i can make a nice wee event frag movie if you have theatre mode recordings on.

1.6 Magill? We're gonna try and have a spec machine for each match (as long as I can secure the hardware), so I'll be taking you up on that sure heh. :)

What way will this be played out? I'm working the 24th and 25th but am off the 26th and would love to play.

    Would this be possible?

Hmm, the tournament is going to be starting on the Saturday, pretty sure of it. All teams will play their first matches then. I will probably hold an FFA tournament on the Sunday though after everything else, a couple euros entry and mainly just for fun, but the top 3 will take a cash prize.

It's a bit load of stress off now that I've got the ball properly rolling. Decent interest especially considering the short notice like. I'll try and remember to post stuff in here along with the main Decerto threads. Just need to secure the hardware and make sure people pay now, heh.

Admitting you have a problem is the first stage to recovery...

Although you do normally stand up to make the statement, so that might be a problem for ya :P
